Ducati model questions
Don't see your Ducati here?
We service every Ducati, including models and special editions not listed. Call 020 8853 8002 or email ray@raypettymeccanica.com and tell us what you ride.
Do newer Ducatis still need Desmo services?
Not all of them. Some recent engines close their valves with springs instead of Desmodromic rockers: the V4 Granturismo in the Multistrada V4, Diavel V4 and XDiavel V4, and the 890cc V2 in the Panigale V2, Streetfighter V2 and Multistrada V2 from 2025, the 2026 Monster, Hypermotard V2 and DesertX. They have longer valve check intervals and no cam belts. The Panigale V4, Streetfighter V4 and the RS versions of the Multistrada V4 and Diavel V4 are still Desmo.
Which Ducatis have cam belts?
Most Ducati V-twins from the Pantah onwards, up to and including the 937cc, 1,198cc and 1,262cc Testastretta engines, drive their cams with toothed belts, which are replaced by age as well as mileage. The Superquadro Panigales, the V4 engines, the 698 Mono and the new 890cc V2 use chains and gears instead. See our cam belt guide.
