Ducati XDiavel servicing

2016 to 2024 · 1,262cc Testastretta DVT V-twin · Greenwich, London

Twin Termignoni carbon fibre silencers on a Ducati

Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs the Ducati XDiavel, XDiavel S, Dark, Black Star and Nera (2016 to 2024) at its independent Ducati workshop in Greenwich, London. The XDiavel has belts in two places, for the cams and for the final drive, and RPM checks both along with the Desmo service.

About the XDiavel

The XDiavel, launched for 2016, took the Diavel into cruiser territory with feet-forward controls and was the first Ducati with a belt final drive. It used the 1,262cc Testastretta DVT, a version of the Multistrada's variable-timing twin reworked for more low-down torque, in a tubular steel trellis frame, with a claimed 156hp at launch. The XDiavel S added Brembo M50 calipers, DLC-coated fork legs and machined wheels. For 2021 the range met Euro 5 with 8hp more, and the Dark and Black Star arrived, the Black Star with much of the S specification. The Nera of 2022 was a numbered run of 500 with a Poltrona Frau leather seat. The XDiavel V4 replaced it for 2025.

Servicing your XDiavel

Ducati's schedule for the XDiavel is an oil service every 15,000 km or 12 months and a valve clearance check every 30,000 km. The DVT engine drives its cams with toothed belts, which are also replaced on age, so a garaged XDiavel with low miles can still be due a pair. The final drive is a belt too, so instead of cleaning and adjusting a chain, RPM inspects the belt and its pulleys for wear and checks the tension. During the Desmo service the clearances on all eight valves are measured and set, and the DVT system, cornering ABS and traction control are read with the latest Ducati diagnostic software. RPM fits genuine Ducati parts throughout.
