Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs the Ducati Multistrada V4, V4 S, Pikes Peak, Rally and RS (2021 on) at its independent Ducati workshop in Greenwich, London. Most of these bikes use the V4 Granturismo engine, which has valve springs instead of Desmo and goes 60,000 km between valve checks, while the RS has a Desmo engine with its own schedule, and we service each one to the right plan.

About the Multistrada V4

The Multistrada V4 replaced the 1260 road models for 2021. Its 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine is developed from the Panigale V4's Desmosedici Stradale but closes its valves with conventional springs, keeps a counter-rotating crankshaft and makes a claimed 170hp. It sits in an aluminium monocoque frame with a 19-inch front wheel, and it was the first production bike with front and rear radar, used for adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection. The Pikes Peak (2022) has a 17-inch front wheel and single-sided swingarm, the Rally (2023) a 30-litre tank and longer travel, and the RS (2024) the 1,103cc Desmo Stradale engine with a dry clutch. The 2025 update lets the rear cylinders shut down at low speed on the move.

Servicing your Multistrada V4

On the Granturismo engine Ducati specifies an oil service every 15,000 km or 24 months and a valve clearance check only every 60,000 km, and the camshafts are driven by chain and gears, so there are no cam belts to replace. Routine services are shorter jobs as a result, but these bikes carry a lot of electronics: semi-active suspension, radar on equipped bikes, and from 2025 the Ducati Vehicle Observer software. We read and set them up with the latest Ducati diagnostic software. The V4 RS is different, with a Desmo valve check every 30,000 km. We call you to agree any work beyond the booked service before we do it.
