Ducati Panigale V4 servicing
2018 on · 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale 90° V4 · Greenwich, London
Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs the Ducati Panigale V4 (2018 on, from the V4 and V4 S to the Speciale, SP, SP2 and special editions) at its independent Ducati workshop in Greenwich, London. A V4 Desmo service means sixteen valves rather than eight, and we use the latest Ducati diagnostic software for the electronics that go with them.
About the Panigale V4
The Panigale V4 replaced the 1299 for 2018 and moved Ducati's superbike from a V-twin to the 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale, a 90° V4 developed from the MotoGP engine. It has four Desmodromic valves per cylinder, cams driven partly by chain and partly by gears, a counter-rotating crankshaft and a Twin Pulse firing order. The engine is a stressed member, carried by a compact front frame. Wings arrived in 2020 and a wider update followed for 2022. The 2025 bike was a major redesign, with a double-sided swingarm replacing the single-sided arm, Brembo Hypure calipers and Euro 5+ compliance. The S has Öhlins semi-active suspension. Higher-spec versions include the Speciale, SP, SP2 (with a dry clutch and carbon wheels), Superleggera V4, Tricolore and Lamborghini.
Servicing your Panigale V4
Ducati's schedule for the V4 is a service every 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or 12 months, with the valve clearance check at 15,000 miles (24,000 km). There are no cam belts. With sixteen valves to measure and shim, the Desmo service is a bigger job than on a twin. The semi-active Öhlins on the S, the IMU-based traction, slide and wheelie control, and on 2025 bikes the Race eCBS linked braking, are all read and set with the latest Ducati diagnostic software. The SP2 runs an STM-EVO SBK dry clutch and the Lamborghini also has a dry clutch, both of which we check for wear. We use genuine Ducati and OEM parts throughout.
