Ducati Multistrada servicing

Every generation, from the 1000DS to the V4, in Greenwich

Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs every generation of Ducati Multistrada at its independent workshop in Greenwich, London, from the air-cooled 1000DS, 620 and 1100 to the 1200, 1260, 950, V2 and V4. Each generation has a different engine and a different schedule, and we work to the one for your bike.

Multistradas are ridden hard

Multistradas are bought to be used: commuting through the winter, touring with luggage, two-up trips abroad. High mileage and all-weather riding mean services come round quickly.

The range has changed more than any other Ducati. The first bikes had air-cooled two-valve engines. The 1200 brought the Testastretta 11°, the 2015 bikes the DVT variable-timing engine, and the 1260 a larger DVT. The V4 of 2021 uses the V4 Granturismo engine with valve springs and a 60,000 km valve check, and the 2025 Multistrada V2 has a new 890cc twin, also with springs. The later bikes carry semi-active suspension, radar on some models, and a full set of rider aids that need the right diagnostic equipment.

Before a big trip

Heading off on a tour? Bring it in beforehand for a service and a check of tyres, chain, brakes and electrics, so nothing spoils the trip.

Belts or no belts

The twins up to the 2024 V2 have toothed cam belts, replaced by age as well as mileage. The V4 and the 2025 V2 have none. We'll tell you what yours needs.

Multistrada servicing questions

How often does a Multistrada V4 need a valve service?

Every 60,000 km (about 37,000 miles) on the V4 Granturismo engine, with oil services every 15,000 km or 24 months. The V4 RS is different: it has the Desmo engine from the Panigale V4 and a valve check every 30,000 km.

Do you service older Multistradas?

Yes, every generation from the 2003 Multistrada 1000DS onwards, including the 620, 1100, 1200, 1200 DVT, Enduro and 1260.

My Multistrada does a lot of miles. How often should I bring it in?

If you commute or tour on it, plan on twice a year, and keep an eye on the service indicator. We'll set the next visit by your mileage.
