About the Hypermotard 939
The 939 replaced the 821 for 2016 and ran until 2018. To meet Euro 4 without losing performance, Ducati took the Testastretta 11° out to 937cc by increasing the bore from 88mm to 94mm, raising the claim to 113hp with about 10% more torque. It keeps the four-valve desmodromic heads, liquid cooling, wet slipper clutch and steel trellis frame of the 821, and adds an oil cooler, a revised dash with a gear indicator and new hand guards with built-in LED indicators. The SP has fully adjustable Öhlins suspension, Brembo radial brakes, forged Marchesini wheels and carbon cam belt covers. The Hyperstrada 939 adds a screen, luggage and a centre stand.
Servicing your Hypermotard 939
Routine services fall every 15,000 km or 12 months, and the valve clearance check comes at 30,000 km. The toothed cam belts have their own age limit, so on a 939 that does few miles a year the belts can fall due before the valves do. A full Desmo service sets the opening and closing clearances on all eight valves, and RPM goes over the cooling system, oil cooler, clutch and drive chain at the same time. The ABS and traction control are checked with current Ducati diagnostic software, and any stored faults are read and explained to you. RPM works through the bike from one end to the other and fits genuine Ducati and OEM parts.
