Ducati Diavel V4 servicing
2023 on · 1,158cc V4 Granturismo (1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale on the RS) · Greenwich, London
Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs the Ducati Diavel V4, the Diavel for Bentley and the Diavel V4 RS (2023 on) at its independent Ducati workshop in Greenwich, London. The standard V4 needs its valves checked only every 60,000 km while the RS has a Desmo engine on a 30,000 km check, and RPM services each to its own schedule.
About the Diavel V4
The Diavel V4 replaced the 1260 for 2023 and was the first Diavel without a V-twin. Its 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine, shared with the Multistrada V4, has a counter-rotating crankshaft, a claimed 168hp and valve springs rather than Desmo, and it shuts down the rear bank at a standstill and at low revs under light load. The frame is an aluminium monocoque with a single-sided swingarm, and the bike is more than 13kg lighter than the 1260 S. The Diavel for Bentley ran to 500 bikes plus 50 Mulliner versions. The Diavel V4 RS, delivered from December 2025, is a numbered model with the 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine, desmodromic valves, a dry clutch, Öhlins suspension and a claimed 182hp.
Servicing your Diavel V4
For the V4 Granturismo engine Ducati sets the valve clearance check at 60,000 km, with scheduled maintenance every 15,000 km or 24 months. The camshafts are driven by chains, so there are no cam belts to replace. That leaves oil services and the chassis, brakes and final drive chain as the regular work, along with the electronics: cornering ABS, launch control, cruise control and cylinder deactivation all run through the bike's software, which RPM reads with the latest Ducati diagnostic equipment. The RS is a different case, with Desmo valve clearances checked every 30,000 km and a dry clutch to inspect. Nothing beyond the agreed service is done without a call to you first.
