Ducati Monster V2 servicing
2026 on · 890cc V2 with chain-driven cams and valve springs · Greenwich, London
Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs the new Ducati Monster V2, Monster+ and Monster 100 at its independent Ducati workshop in Greenwich, London. This is the first Monster without Desmodromic valves or cam belts, so its servicing is different from every earlier Monster, and RPM handles it with the latest Ducati diagnostic software.
About the Monster V2
Ducati revealed the fifth-generation Monster in October 2025, and it reached European dealers in February 2026. It replaces the 937cc Testastretta with Ducati's 890cc V2, the engine first used in the 2025 Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2. The new engine is nearly 6kg lighter, has variable intake valve timing (IVT), closes its valves with conventional springs rather than Desmodromic rockers, and drives its camshafts by chain. Claimed output is 111hp. An aluminium monocoque frame bolts to the engine, the double-sided swingarm follows the Panigale V4's design, and a six-axis IMU runs cornering ABS, traction, wheelie and engine brake control. The range is the Monster, the Monster+ with a nose cowl and seat cover, and the limited Monster 100 built for Ducati's centenary.
Servicing your Monster V2
The V2 engine changes the routine more than any Monster before it. There are no cam belts to replace, and with spring-closed valves there is no Desmo service in the old sense: the valve clearance check is due every 45,000 km (about 28,000 miles), and Bennetts gives the oil service interval as 9,000 miles. Between those, servicing covers oil and filters, brake fluid, coolant, the chain and sprockets, and the electronics, which we check with the latest Ducati diagnostic software. As the official London dealer for Rizoma we can supply and fit Rizoma parts, and we also fit Brembo and other Italian parts and DID chains.
