Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs the Ducati Hypermotard 950, 950 SP and 950 RVE (2019 to 2025) at its independent Ducati workshop in Greenwich, London. The 950 is the last Hypermotard with a Desmo twin and cam belts, and RPM services both alongside its IMU-based electronics.
About the Hypermotard 950
The Hypermotard 950 was the third generation, built from 2019 until the Hypermotard V2 took over for 2026. It keeps a 937cc Testastretta 11° twin, now with new pistons, a new exhaust cam profile, a 53mm throttle body and a claimed 114hp, and a hydraulic clutch in place of the 939's cable. The trellis frame is lighter and the whole bike about 4kg lighter than before. A six-axis Bosch IMU runs cornering ABS with a Slide by Brake setting, lean-sensitive traction control and wheelie control, shown on a 4.3-inch TFT dash. The SP has Öhlins suspension with more travel, forged Marchesini wheels and the quickshifter as standard. The RVE, from 2020, wears the graffiti livery of the 2019 concept and also gets the quickshifter.
Servicing your Hypermotard 950
Ducati lists an oil service every 15,000 km and a Desmo service with the valve clearance check every 30,000 km. The cam belts are still rubber and are replaced on age as well as mileage, so a 950 that only comes out in summer still needs its belts on time. On a bike this dependent on its electronics, the diagnostic side of a service matters: RPM uses the latest Ducati software to read stored faults and check that the ABS, traction control, wheelie control and quickshifter are all working as they should. If you are buying a used 950, RPM will look it over first so you know what is due before you pay.
