Ducati Hypermotard V2 servicing
2026 on · 890cc V2 liquid-cooled V-twin with variable valve timing · Greenwich, London
Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs the Ducati Hypermotard V2 and V2 SP (2026 on) at its independent Ducati workshop in Greenwich, London. This is the first Hypermotard twin without Desmo valve gear or cam belts, and RPM services it to Ducati's longer schedule with the latest diagnostic software.
About the Hypermotard V2
Ducati unveiled the Hypermotard V2 in November 2025 as the fourth generation of the Hypermotard, and it reached European dealers in April 2026, replacing the 950. It uses Ducati's 890cc V2 engine, a 90° twin with four valves per cylinder closed by conventional springs rather than desmodromic rockers, variable intake valve timing and chain-driven twin overhead camshafts, with a claimed 120hp. The engine is a structural part of an aluminium monocoque frame, a change from the steel trellis of every earlier Hypermotard twin. Ducati claims 180kg without fuel for the V2. The SP is 3kg lighter, with Öhlins suspension and forged wheels.
Servicing your Hypermotard V2
Without Desmo valve gear, the V2's valve clearance check is set at 45,000 km (about 28,000 miles), and the oil service falls every 9,000 miles or two years. The camshafts are chain-driven, so there are no cam belts to change on age. Servicing is simpler and less frequent than on the 950, but the variable valve timing and the rider aids depend on the bike's software, and reading it properly takes the latest Ducati diagnostic equipment. RPM services the V2 to Ducati's schedule with genuine Ducati parts, and calls you before doing anything beyond the work you asked for.
