Ducati 899 Panigale servicing
2014 to 2015 · 898cc Superquadro 90° V-twin · Greenwich, London
Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs the Ducati 899 Panigale (2014 and 2015 model years) at its independent Ducati workshop in Greenwich, London. It is the middleweight Panigale with the double-sided swingarm, and we can look one over for you before you buy.
About the 899 Panigale
The 899 Panigale replaced the 848 EVO for 2014 as the smaller-capacity Panigale. Its 898cc Superquadro is a liquid-cooled 90° V-twin with a 100mm bore and a short 57.2mm stroke, four Desmodromic valves per cylinder and the chain and gear cam drive of the 1199. It shares the 1199's aluminium monocoque frame and crankcases but has a double-sided swingarm, a steel subframe, aluminium rather than magnesium engine covers, a fully adjustable Showa Big Piston Fork, a Sachs shock and Brembo monobloc calipers. ABS, eight-level traction control, Engine Brake Control and the DQS quickshifter came as standard, with an LCD dash in place of the 1199's TFT. The 955cc 959 Panigale replaced it for 2016.
Servicing your 899 Panigale
The 899 has no cam belts. Chains and gears drive the cams, so its Desmo service is a matter of checking and shimming the valve clearances, with no belt replacement. The oil service, the valve check and the other items all follow Ducati's schedule for the 899, and when the bike comes in we'll tell you what's due for its mileage and age. The clutch is a hydraulically operated wet unit, and its fluid is part of the service along with the brakes. The ABS, traction control, engine braking and quickshifter settings are read with the latest Ducati diagnostic software. If you're looking at a used 899, we'll inspect it before you buy and tell you what it needs.
