Ducati SuperSport 950 servicing

2021 to 2024 · 937cc Testastretta 11° liquid-cooled V-twin · Greenwich, London

Red Ducati superbike fairing with its LED running light

Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs the Ducati SuperSport 950 and 950 S, built from 2021 to 2024, at its independent Ducati workshop in Greenwich, London. It is the last SuperSport before the Panigale V2 replaced it, with lean-sensitive electronics that RPM can read and check with the latest Ducati diagnostic software.

About the SuperSport 950

The SuperSport 950 took over from the 939 for 2021 with a Panigale-inspired front end, LED headlights, new fairing sides with gill-style vents and a reshaped seat. It kept the 937cc Testastretta 11° engine shared with the Hypermotard 950 and Multistrada 950, updated for Euro 5 with a claimed 110hp at 9,000rpm. The bigger change was electronic: a Bosch six-axis IMU brought cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control EVO and Ducati Wheelie Control EVO, shown on a new 4.3-inch colour TFT dash. The 950 runs a 43mm Marzocchi fork and Sachs shock, and the 950 S has fully adjustable Öhlins at both ends. Ducati has said the 2025 Panigale V2 replaces it, and the SuperSport left the range after 2024.

Servicing your SuperSport 950

Intervals are long for a Ducati: a service every 15,000 km (9,000 miles) or 12 months, and a valve clearance check every 30,000 km (18,000 miles), according to Ducati. That valve check is the Desmo service, and it is the point on this engine where the toothed cam belts are renewed, rather than every two years as on older Ducatis. Because the ABS, traction and wheelie control all work from the IMU, a proper service includes reading the stored fault codes and checking the system with Ducati diagnostic software. If anything beyond the agreed service turns up while Ray Petty and his team work through the bike, they call you to talk it over before any work is done.
