Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono servicing
2024 on · 659cc Superquadro Mono liquid-cooled single · Greenwich, London
Ray Petty Meccanica services and repairs the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono, RVE and Nera (2024 on) at its independent Ducati workshop in Greenwich, London. Ducati's high-revving single has no cam belts and a 30,000 km valve check, and RPM carries out its oil services and Desmo services to the factory schedule.
About the Hypermotard 698 Mono
The 698 Mono reached dealers in early 2024 as Ducati's first single-cylinder road-going supermotard. Its 659cc Superquadro Mono engine is based on the 1299 Panigale's 1,285cc Superquadro twin and keeps that engine's 116mm piston, combustion chamber and valve sizes, with a 62.4mm stroke. The single head carries four valves, titanium inlets and steel exhausts, worked by a desmodromic system with DLC-coated rockers and twin overhead camshafts driven through a mixed chain and gear system. Two balance shafts smooth it out, and Ducati claims 77.5hp with a 10,250rpm limit. The chassis is a steel trellis frame. The RVE adds a graffiti livery and the quickshifter, and the Nera, from 2026, adds black paint and Termignoni silencers.
Servicing your Hypermotard 698 Mono
Ducati sets the 698 Mono's oil change at 15,000 km and the check and adjustment of the valve clearances at 30,000 km. Because the cams are driven by chain and gears, there are no cam belts to replace on age, which removes one of the usual Ducati service costs. The Desmo service is still precise work: the single has four valves with an opening and a closing clearance each, in an engine that revs past 10,000rpm. The gear-driven balance shafts also run the water and oil pumps, so coolant and oil condition are checked as part of the service. RPM uses the latest Ducati diagnostic software for the 698's electronics and fits genuine Ducati parts.
